The "Castle Musicians" ...started with a Shasta College
class in 2004
|
| In the Fall of 2004, Kay taught
two beginning recorder classes through the Community Education Program of Shasta
College. Classes were held on the main Shasta College campus. |
| |
The two classes were:
|
|
Beginning Recorder
(Fundamentals of Music)—for
people who did not play an instrument |
|
Beginning Recorder—for
people who already played an instrument |
| |
Each course was eight weeks in length and was designed to
lay a foundation in the following areas: |
 |
recorder technique |
 |
approach to recorder music |
 |
repertoire and historical periods |
 |
how to play with CD accompaniment |
 |
how to play together in an
ensemble |
| |
At the end of eight
weeks, all of the participants were able to rehearse and play together on their
own in an ensemble. Each new recorder player received a Certificate of Achievement. |
